Online Publishing at Top – Newspapers at Bottom

An interesting report published by LinkedIn that calculated the growth rates in industry size between 2007 and 2011. Here’s what they found:


Look at what’s at the bottom:

  • Newspapers

Look at what’s at the top:

  • Internet
  • Online Publishing

What’s fascinating about this is that most Newspapers and traditional publications are having such a hard time moving their business to online models.  It’s a classic innovator’s dilemma.  Their successful, larger business makes it hard to innovate to smaller, new businesses.
